Community Leaders Roundtable October 10

Civic association and homeowners’ association leaders are invited to this year's Annual Roundtable with Supervisor Cook.   This will be taking place on Wednesday, October 10 at 7:30 PM in Braddock Hall, 9002 Burke Lake Road, Burke, VA.  This is your opportunity to ask questions and share any concerns with Supervisor Cook and your fellow community leaders.  Many of you have attended in the past and the feedback we have received is that it is a meeting of value to all of you.  Supervisor Cook is looking forward to seeing many of you once again.  If you have any questions before the meeting, please feel free to contact, Ann Sharp, at 703-425-9300 or  One important item on the agenda for this meeting is the future of the Braddock District Council.  Participation in the Council has been declining.  Supervisor Cook wants to hear your views on how the Council can be reformed to better meet our communities’ needs, or whether it should be disbanded.

2018 Best of Braddock Awards and Picnic--July 11 6-8pm

The Braddock District Council will host their annual Best of Braddock Awards and Picnic on July 11 from 6-8 p.m. at the Braddock District Supervisor’s office. Please join us as we honor members of our community who are being recognized for their contributions of their time and talent and energy that make the Braddock District an attractive place to live, work and raise our families. They are:
Marilynn Sitts – Olde Forge/Surrey Square Civic Association, Hospitality Chairperson

March 14 Meeting on Advertised FY 2019 County Budget

Time:  7:30-9:30 pm
Location: Braddock Hall, 9002 Burke Lake Road, (in Library Building)
Join us for a presentation by staff from the County Executive's office about the FY2019 Advertised Budget Plan. The plan includes a recommended 2.5 cent increase per $100 assessed value on residential real estate.


February Meeting with Braddock District School Board Member

The next BDC meeting will be on the second Wednesday in February (February 14th). Ms.Megan McLaughlin, our Braddock District member of the School Board, will talk about FCPS issues.  She'll present the upcoming FCPS budget request and discuss the reasoning behind and rationale for the various components and amounts requested.  We will have plenty of time for questions.  Since it will be Valentine's Day we'll have some chocolates to share.

Please join us on July 12th to enjoy the annual Braddock District Picnic at the Kings Park Library/ Braddock Supervisor's Offices (9002 Burke Lake Road, Burke, VA 22015).  We'll kick off the evening with BBQ from Red, Hot and Blue at 6 PM and then top off the festivities with the famous BoB (Best of Braddock) Honors at 7 PM. 

Monthly Meeting June 14, 7:30pm

Join us in Braddock Hall, adjacent to Supervisor Cook's office at 9003 Burke Lake Rd for our  monthly membership meeting. This is our customary primary annual business meeting with review of membership, expenditures and budget as well as annual elections.  Calls for candidates to serve on the Board were published to member organizations on May 12th.  Each candidate will have time allotted to address the audience before voting takes place.  All member organizations are encouraged to have a designated representative attend the meeting to cast their votes.
On June 14th we will also be announcing the names of the "Best of Braddock" awardees with those awards to be presented during the July 12th Braddock District Picnic.

Braddock District Supervisor John Cook in partnership with the Braddock District Council of Community Associations (BDC) announces the annual call for nominations for Best of Braddock awards for citizen’s recognition.  This annual tribute to deserving citizens will take place during the District Picnic on July 12th.  The nomination form can be downloaded below.

Legislator's Forum--April 12

Collectively Braddock District's 123,000 residents are represented in Richmond by three State Senators and five Delegates.  We're pleased to announce that Senators Saslaw, Marsden and Petersen as well as Delegates Korey, Filler-Corn, Watts and Bulova have indicated that they will be joining us on the 12th to tell us what they've been working on in Richmond. This is your opportunity to interact directly with your elected officials in a setting where you'll be able to ask questions and express concerns.  As always, our meetings start at 7:30 and we adjoin by 9:00 P.M.  Join us in the King's Park Library meeting room (9003 Burke Lake Rd, FX, 22015) on April 12th.  MEET AND EXCHANGE THOUGHTS WITH THE PEOPLE WE'VE ELECTED TO REPRESENT US IN RICHMOND.

County Budget Meeting, March 8, 2017

The Braddock District Council (BDC) will host its annual county budget meeting on March 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the Kings Park Library Meeting Room (9000 Burke Lake Road).  A representative from the County Department of Management and Budget will attend.  Supervisor Cook will also be available to help provide input and take questions.   All are welcome to attend.
